Interesting Facts
“Nestville” – blended whiskey, the production of which uses alcohols aged for at least three years in American oak barrels. โNestvilleโ owes its original taste to the rich traditions of Northern Spis , ingredients of exceptionally high quality, a clean environment and a unique process of production with seven-fold distillation, as a result of which the whiskey acquires a delicate, pure aroma. The basis for a three-year-old blended whiskey is a carefully prepared mixture of grain and malt whiskey. The main ingredient is grain whiskey, which contains 12% malt, 48% corn and 40% triticale. The second component is pure malt whiskey made from 100% barley malt. The final blend includes 90% grain whiskey and 10% malt. Also included is crystal clear, natural water. An analysis of the mineral composition of the water that flows from the Beliansky Tatras to the Lubovna depression and is used to make Nestville whiskey has shown that it is rich in minerals and is ideal for the production of whiskey. Water does not require artificial purification, since on its long journey it is naturally filtered through rocks that date back to the time of the Paleogene and Quaternary. Ripening in selected white American oak barrels gives the flavor palette pleasant sweetish-spicy tones.
Nestville whiskey has been repeatedly awarded the quality mark, and also received a bronze medal from the Beverage Testing Institut and a silver medal at the Sommelier Wine Challenge.
Nestville Distillery, located near the town of Stara Lubovna, famous for the art of distillation from the 18th century, was able to revive the old distilleries of Northern Spis. Already in the records of 1747, it was noted that part of the rye grown near the Lyubovna castle was transferred to the local “mountain dwellers” for the manufacture of alcohol. This was one of the main reasons why the company decided to revive the production of spirits in Nest. Alcoholic drinks made according to a unique, ancient recipe, with their high quality and flavor palette, remind of the traditions and craftsmanship of people living in this region. The company got its name as a result of the merger of the words “Nest” and “Ville” (short for “Villge”), which is translated from English as “nest” and “village” – a place that in Slovakia is called the Nest. Nestville Distillery in Gnezdnoy set up an alcohol factory, a distillery and an exhibition telling about the regionโs exciting past and crafts in North Spice.
BGV Distillery , which produces ethyl alcohol in accordance with the traditional recipes of Northern Spis, was founded in 2001. The plant was built directly on the foundation of the old castle of Lubovna. The plant has the most modern and high-performance equipment, which guarantees high quality products. The BGV Distillery is one of the most modern distilleries in Central Europe with its own licensed testing laboratory for the deep chemical analysis of alcohol and spirits. Unique distillation technology, constant monitoring at every stage of production, as well as rich experience and high professionalism of employees are the key to the success and recognition of the company. In 2005, a management control system was introduced in accordance with EN ISO 9001. Among the company’s regular customers are large European distilleries, pharmaceutical and food companies, and many other industrial enterprises.
