“Bright and instantly appealing, the wine shows green rockmelon, kiwifruit and lime zest aromas, leading to a flavoursome palate that’s filled with vibrant fruit flavours. Well supported by fine texture and juicy acidity, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2024” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2022
It’s a lively, fresh medium bodied wine with a lifted nose of tropical passionfruit, blackcurrant and zesty citrus notes. The palate displays flavours of gooseberry and green capsicum with a hint of salt. Subtle herbaceous notes add complexity and the finish is clean and crisp with a silky texture.
The fruit for this Whalebone Bay Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites within Marlborough predominantly in the lower Wairau sub-region.
Whalebone Bay is a colloquial term given to the shores of Port Underwood in Marlborough, that are littered with old whalebone remnants. It was here in the mid -1800s that whaling was in full swing. The pioneering spirit and uncompromising attitude of these people is reflected today by the dedication of Marlborough grape growers to producing top quality fruit.
Food Pairing: A delightful wine with asparagus and chicken quiche.
