Key Facts:
Shiraz (or Syrah) is a world-beater. Starting small in the southern reaches of France, it has spread to all corners of the world and is known for producing some of the world’s great red wines, capable of perfume, power and persistence. Wines made and labelled as ‘Shiraz’ are luscious and fruity, loaded with plum, raisin and plenty of oaky richness. European or cooler climate expressions are often labelled as and referred to as ‘Syrah’, these can be more savoury and tend towards flavours of olive, black cherry and pepper. Both are equally delicious and are simply a matter of taste!
Fun Fact:
With vineyards dating back to 1843 – Australia has the world’s oldest Shiraz vines still in production.
